Automobiles in German Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials state early analysis show the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.

An important political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
